What Is the Arizona Long-Term Care System?
If you or a loved one is in need of long-term medical care and are not able to afford the cost, there are programs that can help you. Assisted living communities (such as BridgeWater Assisted Living) are able to help you find the finical assistance that works best for you. If you live in Arizona, the Arizona Long-Term Care System (ALTCS) may be an available option for you.
Here is some information on ALTCS and how you can use it for your medical needs.
What is it?
Programs such as ALTCS were created because long-term care is out of financial reach for some people. The Arizona Long-Term Care System is a program that helps disabled individuals and fixed-income seniors to be able to afford their care at a community like BridgeWater. Once you have this program at your side, it can pay for some or all of the fees associated with long-term care. If you’re either financially or medically eligible, it’d be a great system to set up for you.
What are the eligibility requirements?
In order to be medically eligible for the Arizona Long-Term Care System, you must be in need of a higher level of care, such as assisted living or memory care. Once you provide documentation to show that you’re medically eligible, you’ll also need to meet with a nurse or social worker in a face-to-face interview to confirm it.
If you’re applying as a fixed-income senior, you’ll have to be at least 65 or older. The program requires that such individuals have no more than $2,000 in countable resources to be financially eligible. There may also be a limit on monthly income. During the application process, you or your loved one will need to provide documents that prove financial need.
Aside from medical and financial eligibility, there are a few other components required to be considered eligible for the program. You’ll also need to be an Arizona resident and a United States citizen or qualified immigrant.
How do I apply?
In order to apply for the Arizona Long-Term Care System, you’ll need to fill out an application. This is where you’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your need for ALTCS support. Your functional and medical assessments and financial records will be taken into consideration when deciding whether you’re eligible to receive this type of assistance.
Once your application is complete, it can take anywhere from 45 to 60 days to be approved. Once approved, you can use the program to pay for your senior-living or assisted-living community. Communities like BridgeWater Assisted Living are happy to accept recipients of this program into our communities, where they can receive top-notch care in a variety of Arizona locations.
If you or a loved one is in need of such care in Arizona and want to use ALTCS to cover the costs, our Community Benefits Advocates can assist you with determining eligibility, help with the paperwork, or help to walk you through the steps.
