Is There an Age Limit for Phoenix Assisted Living Services

Once you notice you or your loved one might be in need of assisted living, the search for a new home away from home begins. However, what if you or your loved one aren’t an elderly person? Typically, you will see seniors in these assisted living and memory care communities, but the truth is that younger people may also require assisted living.

Do Younger People Need Assisted Living?

In fact, they do! A younger person might need help in their day to day lives just like a senior might, especially when it comes to meal preparation, grooming, dressing, transportation or other daily activities. A younger person might need additional help in the short term, such as if they’re recovering from an illness or an accident. A longer term stay might be required if they have a disability and aren’t able to live on their own.

What Age Can I Apply for Assisted Living?

That being said, what is the age limit for assisted living services? The answer is: there isn’t one! An individual who applies to enter an assisted living community must only be over the age of eighteen, and eligibility for admission is solely based on the individual’s care requirements, rather than age. After all, a caretaker or a family member may find it difficult to care for someone who is 25 the same way they find it difficult to care for someone who is 85. Young adults with disabilities may not be able to live alone at home, even with the additional help of family or a caretaker.

Either way, an assisted living community is a great way for them to get the care they need.
